My first elk shed
« on: May 14, 2013, 07:44:55 PM »
Found my first elk shed this year. Helped some friends with spring bear and found this guy near a tree in a steep rock shoot. Spotted it from over a mile away. For all the hunting i do I'm not one for going shed hunting so I love that I found one. Guesses on score? I'll tell ya that it has a 51 2/8" main beam!

That's a good first shed!  Spend any time trying to match it up?
When you see the third, thin the herd.
Right now I'm somewhere picking up sheds.

After locating it I searched and searched for the other side. I'm sure that someone else has picked it up since we were in a high traffic area.

Very nice.  I am sure you are short of space so I will offer to store it for you. :chuckle:

Awesome shed. Good find with the spotter. How far away were you when you spotted it?

I'm guessing a little over a mile away. I was able to go back to the vehicle and then drive to the top of the drainage it was in. 30 minute round trip and I had it back at the vehicle. It was only 300 yards below the road.

especially if there was a road 30 yards above it.
