Depends on your definition of a trophy I guess
I got stuck there once. Saw some big deer at times and none at others
These guys like Hunt and others are just being honest with you. I know this unit very well, have personally hunted it during this time frame and into december more than most. Have had the opportunity to have a tag in my pocket, have also been with my dad or buddies on this hunt, raffle hunt, etc over the last few years. We have a wall or two to prove our hard work and luck. In 2008 I hunted wiht my dad 20 straight days sun up to sun down. We saw one buck that was for sure over 180 B&C. That was the last day with a few hours to go. There is only a handful of true 175 + typical B&C bucks in this unit. You might be one of the lucky guys and be driving up the road and he will be standing there on the hill at 50 yards on day one or you might hunt your butt off for 20 days and never see anything over 160. there is many of guys from rifle to bow to Gov tags that dont shoot a buck and eat their tags.(nothing wrong with that) So from somebody that knows, that lives, that owns land in the heart of the winter range and that has been behind the glass for several of these hunts. Have a plan, have a goal, put in the time, and stick with your plan. And for sure you will have the time of your life looking at deer from sun up to sun down. And if you stick to your goal, you may or may not have a tag still in your pocket at the end. But for sure you will have had the hunt of a lifetime. And that is what it is all about.
