Seen it with the kings to. Snag and throw them deep into blackberry bushes and repeat. Crazy to see such bright beautiful kings wasted.
Maturity is when you have the power to destroy someone who did you wrong but instead you breathe, walk away, and let life take care of them.

At least they were only chums.  I can't believe that with all those other fishermen that nobody was giving him crap.

Ive seen the skoks treat silvers and kings the same way many times. Disgusting ethics in that group, their ancestors are probably rolling in their graves.

That or playing the slot machines. But let's be fair. I have seen every ethnic group snag. What I DON'T like is watching the game dept. let them snag at Redondo on the beach in droves as they go out and hit the sportsman's boats for safety checks.

Has nothing to do with "ethnic groups".  I have the utmost respect for the way many tribes conduct themselves. The skokomish however, do not conduct themselves in a responsible way with fish and wild life. The snagging isnt what bothers me, the wastage is the problem here if you happened to miss that.

I dont condone snagging, but am alot more acceptive of that behavior than this reckless wastage.

Most native tribes would also speak out about this sort of behavior as well.

Yeah, I grew up in Shelton knowing quite a few of the Skoks and fishing that river.  Things never change.  Far too many in that tribe have zero respect for fish, wildlife or other humans.

Prime example of why there is tension between the tribe and us non-tribal folks.  Speaking for myself, I feel I contribute to our natural resources and enjoy part of the harvest.  I pay with my $$$, work on predator control, understand habitat, work to improve it etc.  It makes it hard to see any group of people who seem to only be looking to TAKE and not give.  Also makes it tough when it APPEARS that rule breakers aren't dealt with within the tribe.

Understand that I'm not saying ALL.  But I agree with many on here that this is no rare event.  Fish and game in this state aren't valued per critter.  They are valued dependant on who takes them home.....and that has to do with your genetic makeup.

Sigh.......I suppose it is what it is and "nothing to see here" is where it all ends up.  Makes it tougher when we don't report things because we assume they belong to a tribe.

It's a mess...
We must reject the idea that every time a law's broken, society is guilty rather than the lawbreaker. It is time to restore the American precept that each individual is accountable for his actions.

on the whole "tribal" thing, i'd bet a paycheck for every tribal snagger there are at least 5 non-tribal "fisherman" doing the same thing. :twocents: is snagging any different when doing it with "legal gear?" 95% of the non-tribal people who fish the skok king run are snaggers. in case some of you didn't know kings rarely eat corkies and yarn. (yes I know those are chums and will eat c&y, just making an example)

Okay but are they filling a ditch up with fish?

Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.
