GMU 407 & 418 Looking for local knowledge and hunting partner
« on: September 09, 2014, 10:48:19 AM »
Hi, I moved to Bellingham area late last September and I missed last deer season (rifle).  I am getting ready for this deer season and doing as much research as I can to find where to go and stuff.  None of my new friends here hunts and I would love to find someone safe and respectful to go hunting with.  I hunted deer for 2 seasons when I lived in Alaska but I haven't hunted last two years after moving away from Alaska.  I have much more to learn and I would love for someone to teach me what they can.  Please let me know if you want a hunting partner this season.  I would like to hunt GMU 407 or 418.  Thanks!

Hi MRT, I have lived in Whatcom County for 52 years and grew up hunting Black tails. When I was a kid we had a place by Silver Lake and we hunted red mountain a lot. We took some nice bucks off it but now there are houses and gates everywhere. Most of the places we hunted are all gated that's why we now hunt on the eastside for Mule Deer amd White Tail. Bought a home by Winthrop a few years back and base most of our hunting out of there. In the early season you can still find some bucks up on Church mountain. Hike in in the dark and glass the meadows at daylight. Long day and a long pack-out. Most of the really successful guys around here have keys to the gates so they get access that we can't. Kinda sucks but thats what has happened to this area. saw some pics of some huge Black Tails that came out of Boulder Creek this year, by loggers with keys, so they are out there.
