Release
« on: November 27, 2014, 04:51:04 PM »
So I think I know the answer to this but I'll ask anyway. My release just broke after a month. I really liked it. It was a trufire patriot. Felt comfortable and had a hair trigger.

Before I replace it withe the same thing thought I'd see if anyone knew of anything better. Only paid $22 for it but would be willing to spend $10-15 more.

Contact the manufacturer and I'll bet they send you a new one. Scott did that for me.
:fire.:

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

I was going to try and return to the store first. That's why I thought I might spend a little more.

For $35-40 there isn't much out there better than what you have.  The step up in quality usually starts around $60 (Scott).  Did the release head break or did the strap connection break?  Tru-Fire is known to have some connection breakage, but the release itself is usually sound.  Good thing is Tru-Fire has been known to have great customer service.

I'm a Carter Quickie (retail about $95-100) fan, but have used Scott and Tru-Ball with good results too.

He asked, Do you ever give a short simple answer?  I replied, "Nope."

Been using the same Spot Hogg Wise Guy for 7 years. No problems other than leaving it in my pack on accident and realizing it when I went to pull back on an elk  :bash:

Another vote for spot hogg wiseguy with buckle strap if you dont mind saving up a little. If not scott and truball have great cheaper releases. I would stay away from trufire. Youre not the first one ive heard of that had a trufire break.

For all the Scott release fans, what model would you suggest?  I'm also looking for a release that is less <$60.  Anyone use these two?

:yike: you'll never forget that one.  I have nightmares about that kind of thing.
