This was a lot easier question to answer 10 - 15 years ago.  There are a lot of good options now.   I'd probably look hard at the Savages.

Thinking a little out of the box here, how about a Browning BLR in .300 WSM?  Seems to me it would be as fine a shooting iron as any for hunting.

I find it strange that in topics like this Winchester is hardly ever brought up. I have a model 70 that is an absolute tack driver! Anyway, back to your thoughts and opinions.

:yeah: There's several choices in my safe, but I almost always grab a Winchester 70 Featherweight. It is wearing Leupold glass, but I think Vortex or Nikon are viable options. Like usual, buy "on sale".

Ironic topic. I just ordered a savage long range hunter in 300 wsm.  Should be in tomorrow. Looking at Nightforce for optics but still undecided. I'll let you know how she shoots once it's all put together. Oh yeah, it was $880.

REM 700 and put the rest in to trigger and good chasi. Good rule of thumb is spend the same on your glass as the rifle. That said I love my vortex viper PST!!!! Good glass, tracks true, and has taken a BEATING!!!!
