single cam curse or not?
« on: January 02, 2009, 09:48:43 PM »
I have a bear truth 2 and the serving on my bottom cam is completely missing(rubbed through), right where it bends over the left off bend.

So i thought that the left off mod or whatever its called might be the only thing that was effecting the string and so i waxed it heavy right there at that point. Drew it back and shot it a few times more and the wax was all over the cam wheel right at the most relaxed point of the cam and where the string lays over it. Almost as if it hits the cam at release.

Im getting the string re-served. is there anything else i might want to look into?

LOL.... here we go with the bow wars....  :-)  I'd take it to your favorite bow shop and have them look at it.  Then go buy a bowtech!   Just kidding,  that was for Hoytshooter.  No way your bow should be doing that,  probably just an adjustment needed.

Hoyt, or maybe you could just tell him what's causing the problem. You do know the answer right?   :dunno:

I know what should be causing the issue but without actually seeing the bow I cant be sure, best thing to do would be to take it to a pro shop and have them see what it the problem, its not a fix you want to do on your own

It should not be doing that.  I would guess something is out of line.  Re-serve it with quality serving and see how long it lasts.  If it rubs through then for sure the cam is out of line.  I am finally replacing my LX string/cable after five years and other then the fuzz they are perfect.

Yeah buy a Hoyt, that way the mod screw can cut and wear the serving! :chuckle: I think the new serving should fix your problem. IMO the string manufactuers could use a higher quality serving. If that does not help somethings probably out of wack.

Hum well my bow has winners choice strings on it, so im good there for quality. And i just got it reserved.

I think its the mod bend. when the string rides over the mod, i think it kind of rides up the wall a little bit and rubs against the mod step a bit. with repeated shooting i could see where it would rub the serving raw.

i think for now ill keep watching it and see how it wears again on the new serving and contact bear in the meantime and see if they can send me a new mod and maybe that will fix it. if you want i could probably send you a picture of where its wearing. But i honestly think the string is hitting my cam also. almost like it has a nasty backlash or vibration.

anything help that?

Not getting a new bow so that's out of question. and i contacted bear archery and told them what its doing so we will see what they say.

Thanks guys. guess the simplest thing to do sometimes is just go warranty!

Hmm...I will have to look at mine when I get home and see how my string serving looks. I haven't noticed anything wrong with it.

you get a chance to look at it yet? reserved it and shoot several dozen arrows through it and i can tell already that its rubbing. Looks like i might have to keep my eye on it.
