Salsa and ghost peppers
« on: September 18, 2015, 01:59:43 PM »
I make salsa every year and usually use jalapenos and habaneros. This year my jalapenos are to mild and i did not grow any habaneros so my wife just brought me some peppers from a coworkers garden. Among them are some ghost peppers. Never had any experience with them other than horror stories i have heard. Any one use them in salsa? I am going to try them, but i think i will start out with a tiny amount. Are they really as hot as i have heard? I like to break a little sweat when dipping chips, but i don't want to hurt myself ether and i don't want to ruin the taste. Thoughts?

Amy's on the bay in Port Orchard has a Ghost chili burger that is quite good!
Just don't make plans for the day after.

Ahh, another thing to consider, the after effects. I don't like the thought of that.

I'm addicted to this stuff, sweating just thinking of it but man that dirty smoky chipotle on crack taste gets better and better as you go.

Well, I wont be doing anymore ghost peppers. Did my normal mix and added a very small ghost pepper. ended up with a triple batch trying to kill the heat, Then had to throw in my wife's pico (she uses no peppers ) and its still too hot. Don't know if my mixer will ever be the same. It burns every time i burp. She is going to make another batch of her pico to mix in. I think my throat is swelling. I should have learned from Smossys experience. I relly don't like one of my neighbors, wonder if he would like some salsa? :chuckle:

Heard on the radio the other day that people who eat hot, spicy food live longer.  The capsaicin reduces inflammation and improves circulation.

Well i can tell you that the way my stomach feels right now, things are definable circulating. And the way my throat feels I don't think its helping reduce any inflammation.

I don't know what ghost peppers are any good for.  They are to hot for me.  I did see my dad pop 3 in his mouth once and eat them.  He didn't know what they were.  He thought they were small bell peppers that hadn't grown right in his garden.  He never has grown any ghost peppers since then.
