Anyone shoot a Browning A5?
« on: January 02, 2017, 01:12:03 PM »
Looking to try one out. Handled one in the store and it fit like a glove. Loved the lightweight of it but I'm sure the recoil is pretty stiff. I've gotten advice across the board so I figured the best thing to do is actually shoot one.

Let me know if you're in the area and willing to meet up, or even just share your experience with the A5, thanks!

I hunted with the old school Auto 5's for many years...both Magnum 12, light 12 and the sweet 16....I have run a few shells out of the new A5 and I liked it..pointed just about the same but it definately kicked a bit more than the Maxus.

Yes.

They point real well.  I shot one quite a few years ago.

I have a new one been hunting it since last season, I couldn't ask for a better gun! Super reliable and I feel I shoot much better since I got it, I really don't notice the kick my old 20ga a5 seemed to kick harder, you will not regret buying one!!!

They are somewhat popular on the 3gun/multigun circuit right now because of the autoload feature. I have a couple of buddies who are running them and they seem to be solid guns.

I don't think 1400 is bad for a duck gun I'd use 50 times a yr for a long time.

Coming down to this or the new SX4 for next season.

I wasn't saying anything bad,but for the price it should be a lifetime of good hunting.

My hunting partner picked one up last season. He absolutely loves it. Runs flawlessly.
I'm a Remington guy myself, but I have to admit I love the feel of his A5, nice and light, shoulders nice and great on follow up shots.

2nd year with mine. It's a duck killer. Love the weight, I can handle the added kick over gas. Not a single problem in 2 years, I pull trigger it shoots ducks.

I hauled both of my Dad's old auto 5s home last weekend, he passed away in April, one is a light 12 the other a heavy magnum, both have killed more than their fair share of birds. 30 years ago I tripled on roosters with the light 12. As far as I'm concerned in firearms manufacturing/design the boys are still chasing John Moses Browning, the man was pure genius and he hasn't been matched.
