There is no thanks in order when you accuse someone of baiting bears ,In perfectly aware of the game laws on baiting.

1) My cams and all salt is removed on or before Sept 1,::) salt block in question is three years old .Mainly do to theft, and the amount of hunters in the area.

2)I don't hunt over my game cams, there used as a scouting tool only.

3)I'm not gonna be apart of your guys little witch hunt to try and teach me something I already know.

Dude. Seriously. No one accused you of baiting. You are the one that said "no bait, just salt block." That immediately makes people assume you think salt is not bait, which it clearly is. Your #1 and #2 bullet point items were not part of your post so no one knows you don't intend to hunt over them and that they're removed.

That's the inherent problem with written communication, so much gets lost in the translation. We're all forced to assume things, and you know what they say about assuming things...

Theres no witch hunt here, I'm 100% confident everyone involved here was looking out for you. Have a good day.

Holy smokes.  I don't see anyone accusing you of anything. I certainly am not. You seem NOT to be aware or already know as you showed that you thought you could use salt as a legal attractant. You are all riled up for nothing. The witch hunt is in your imagination. Take a deep breath or 20.

Best of luck, find that cinny bear away from the salt and make him into a rug. Ill be the 1st to say nice job.

Drop it. It's truly a small matter. We have hunting to discuss.

Another thing to consider in forums and threads like this is that lots of people read them (even for years later) and even if you know the points brought up, another people may not know and they can learn from the discussion. The points brought up about what is considered bait are good points to discuss. :twocents:

No one is on a witch hunt, Hunter399.
We were simply making you aware of a potential problem (looks like you know baiting laws, according to your claims).
If you aint hunting, you aint livin'

It's a statement,  and an accurate one.

Ok then. Carry on. Good luck this season, shoot straight, may all your game fall where it stands and your tags get filled.

No. Its not. Its you saying that salt is not bait, which it is, and someone clarifying that for you. Time to accept that.

And once again, as has been said, baiting for cameras is perfectly legal, even for bear. Just not for hunting. We don't want you to get busted. Last time i'm saying it. Good luck.

I will add it is legal to bait deer and elk,so there is a fine line between baiting bears and baiting deer and elk,so being the only bait that bears won't eat.I find it hard to call it baiting bears.

Bait" is any substance that could serve as a lure, food, or attraction for deer or elk Except as otherwise provided in this section, it is unlawful to hunt for deer and elk using any type of bait placed, exposed, deposited, distributed, scattered, or otherwise used for the purpose of attracting deer or elk with the intent to hunt them, if the volume of bait accessible to wildlife exceeds 10 gallons   Bait sites of an individual license holder cannot be placed within 200 yards from another known bait site or another bait site of the same license

That's a fair assumption, and I don't disagree with you that it's a minimally effective bait, but under the letter of the law, it is still considered bait.

I 1000000000% guarantee you that if you killed a bear out of a stand where there was a salt or mineral block, and a game warden happened upon you, you would be cited for hunting bear over bait. Period. No questions asked.

I agree. You are putting out salt for deer and the bears come in. Can't help that, not baiting bears for hunting no problem. You are right...the issue only would come up if you shoot a bear in the vicinity, again vicinity is a gray area, of a substance that meets the guidlines for bait.  You could be accused of therfore hunting over bait. In my experience there is nothing bears won't eat. Even plastic flamingos. I see nothing wrong at all with your salt or pics you had posted.
