Mule deer calls
« on: August 19, 2017, 09:09:35 PM »
What calls do you use for mule deer?
I'm looking to pick a couple up.
I'm interested in what some of you have had success using.
Thanks

Last year I just told him he wasn't quite big enough and I'm not going to carry you out of here. I just talk to them and they stare back at me. :dunno:

Mule deer make noise......

I don't know of any commercial calls out there.  The guys that do call, hold how and what they do very closely to their chest and I wouldn't expect and straightforward answers to your question.  I will say predator calling at times can get a doe to consider opening a can on your butt.  :chuckle:

I've heard various things.
Some mulie hunters get mule deer specific calls. Some use blacktail or whitetail calls.
I have a fair imitation call i can make without anything.
I'm just interested in what other hunters use.

There's a difference in tone and cadence between muledeer and whitetails.   There are calls specific for each

I think the one I have is primos

I have used fawn in distress calls to bring in does, which in turn brings in Bucks during the rut. Also, you can use predator calls to get bucks to move and give away themselves in high safe and dense cover.

I've used the fawn call to get bedded deer to stand up.  In one draw where I knew they were bedded, 12 deer stood up, including 2 good bucks. My son couldn't get them in his sights before they took off.
