Dogs along hunting
« on: October 15, 2017, 06:30:09 PM »
Is it common for people to bring there dogs hunting (not tracking dogs, just pets)?  About 1/2-2/3 mi. From where I was hunting someone had 2 or three dogs that would not stop barking.  I figured it would either drive them to me or drive them away.  I personally wouldn't bring my dogs hunting but not sure about general etiquette

No. Dogs can be useful for finding a dead deer you couldn't find on your own tho.

seems pretty standard for road hunting.  Especially if it is a little yapper that rides in the guy's lap.  Dogs are good at spotting deer.

Is it like cheating within the rules or it's still unlawful to have a dog in the car while deer hunting?

If you're in a vehicle, you're not hunting, so it wouldn't be illegal to have a dog.

2)(a) It is unlawful to hunt any wildlife at night or wild animals, except rabbits and hares, with dogs (hounds) during the month of October or November during the dates established for eastern and western Washington modern firearm deer or elk general seasons. During the modern firearm deer and elk general seasons the hunting hours are one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset.

"To hunt" and its derivatives means an effort to kill, injure, harass, harvest, or capture a wild animal or wild bird.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I reckon if you were up in the woods with a dog, deer tag and rifle: the fish and wildlife enforcement might not take kindly... I wouldn't risk it, keep them aside for rabbit hunting time.

I take my labs everywhere I go. After I tag out for deer, it's bird hunting time.
