Another way I name stuff is to just use the same name as the fella I get a pup from. So I've had a frank, Allen, bob, and Larry. I'm pretty sure I'll change it up if I ever get a pup from a Blanche!
I love regular people names for dogs. My neighbor used to have a dog named Dan.

Me too!  A buddy of mine way back when was a big music buff and named his 2 dogs Sam and Dave.  I thought that was pretty funny.

Me too, I had a dog named Lou back in the day and have a friend who named his dog Ralphy and a cousin who has a Boston named Libby. Best one is a Golden named Jim(my neighbor) :chuckle:

We just finished dog sitting a golden named Ben.

We've watched a German Shepherd named Henry, wiener dog named Porter and couple different dogs named Lucy, and one named Zoe.

Seems like lots of dogs get named people names.
May I always be the kind of person my dog thinks I am.

He looks like a kit beaver, lol  :).  I love labs, great dogs.  Here is our "office" Willie on post.  He's a comfort dog for one of our active duty officer vets that has seen and experienced too much during his tour.  The name fits a chocolate for some reason and Willie has rapidly became a comfort pup for us all.  I vote Willie  ;)

As I type this my son's border collie / aussie cross is curled at my feet.  We take care of him a couple of times a week when my son pulls 12 hour graveyard shifts at the hospital.  His name is Archer, which I didn't care for at first but now has really grown on me.  We will also call him Archie or Arch.  The name has a bite to it when you are trying to get the dog's attention.  He responds well to it.  Archer's dad is a full border collie and a PTSD therapy dog for a friend of my son's.  Archer's dad has been called the "coolest dog on the planet" by a lot of people.  He follows his owner everywhere she goes, including the classroom in college.

I have to come up with a female pup name.  I will pick up my BLF from Lee Salmon at Wind River Labs in March.  This is our first dog since my big BLM boy Hoss died in 2016.  Hoss is a great boy dog name if your pup is a big guy, as Hoss was...92 lbs at his prime hunting weight.

Keep the names to one syllable as its a lot easier for the dog to learn the name that way
