My AR is in 20 Practical(20-223) and I have a Howa Mini in 6.5 Grendel(great dual purpose round), Rem 600 in 6x45.  I think you need to decide what your going to do with it.  If your going to shoot it a lot feeding a 458 can get spendy.  I think that anything on the 223/5.56 case is the most logical, 17 Practical, 20 Practical, 6x45 or 25/45(I've been shooting a 25-204 for 12 years in a bolt gun, too long for an AR).  The 300 BLK seems to be kind of a knitch gun if you want to do close in work suppressed but the rainbow trajectories kind of turn me off.
After the first shot the rest are just noise.

The OP seems to maybe be steering toward larger calibers but what about a 22 Nosler?

Biggerhammer built one not to long ago so he would likely be a good source for information on a 22 Nosler build.

With the OP not being a reloader, that will somewhat limit the options for any of the wildcats.

Ask yourself are you going to hunt deer with ,or bigger game.
I shot my deer with 25/45 this year so that's what I have been playing with.I have played with 300blk,and still have it,just always end going back to 25/45.

But other calibers if I wanted to build one today would be.
6/45.  -lots of bullet choices if you do reload
6.5 grendal.    -better for long range, but cost more different bolt and mag.
277 wolverine. - This is a new caliber,i think it is similar to 300blk ,but a 270 caliber bullet ,better than 300 blk.

300 blk is ok ,lots of bullet choices but is a 200 yard tool at best.

I rather piss in the wind, then have piss down my back.

Better yet if staying small bore, 224 Valkyrie.

If reloading get 277 wolverine. Just needs a new barrel if switching from 223.

If not reloading get grendel.
