If swaros and mavens?
« on: February 20, 2018, 05:33:54 PM »
I’m thinking of upgrading my glass in the future to either swaros or mavens. If they were both the same price and sitting next to each other which ones would you guys get?

Binoculars or spotting scope?
Doesn't matter I guess given the criteria- swarovski's is the answer.

Never looked through Mavens but after owning Swarovski EL 10x42’s and EL Range, I would not own any other brand  :twocents:

Even more so if those are the given choices.

I have the SLC's and can say that they are pretty awesome. I had a pair of Zeiss Conquests that I thought were absolutely great. Then I compared them side by side to the SLC's and the Swaro's are really that much better.

I would be happy to have conquests or even the Meopta's again. Both are incredible piece's of glass, but the swarovski's just flat beat them out.

No experience with the Mavens, hear a lot of people rave about them, but I don't see a need. At the price point I would go with the Meopta's or Zeiss. My .02

I looked thru a pair of Mavens that a guide friend showed me, I wasn't very impressed. I didn't like the glass or the ergonomics very much, they felt cheap. I don't know what model they were, maybe they weren't their upper end glass. I bought the wife a pair of SLC HD's this fall and really love them for the price. I can't decide if I like those or my Ultravid's better. Originally I had bought the EL Swarovisions and ended up exchanging them for the Leica's after doing some side by side comparisons while hunting, so kind of odd that I like the SLC's so much :twocents:

Don't be surprised that your eyes like the SLC glass so much. The SLC are a better choice for a lot of people. The have 1% more light transmission and they don't have the field flattening glass that the EL come with. Some eyes don't get along well with the field flattening of the EL.

Never tried the mavens, I have the swaro slc’s and they have pretty much ruined me for any other glass! Excellent glass as to be expected and I’ve never had an issue with fogging, ever.  So I guess I would take the swaros since I know exactly what I would be getting. FWIW I prefer the slc over the el

Let your eyes decide. If you can't see a different side by side, and they are the same price, then pick the swarovski's. They will have a much better resale value if nothing else.
