2018 upgrades
« on: March 29, 2018, 01:42:31 PM »
So what are your upgrades for this years season?
I upgraded my camp to a SO Redcliff and liteoutdoors XL stove. I also grabbed one of the petzel e-lights as a backup headlamp. Also upgraded my sleeping pad to a Exped winterlight. Looking forward to the backpacking and hunting season!! So what did you upgrade this year?

Picked up a Tikka setup, switching to a 3 pin Fast Eddie for archery and might be upgrading to a newer version of EXO pack because they have the pattern I wanted in 2014.

Got a new riding saddle for the mule, thinking about upgrading my daypack if funds allow, and hoping I upgrade my archery tag to a rifle tag this year.

Bought my first hunting bow and a new pair of boots.  I actually got rid of a fair amount of stuff.

Replaced my Big Horn 2 with a canvas wall tent and new stove. And I have a new rifle on the way.

Upgraded the Kuiu pack to an Exo Mountain 3500
Added a muzzle break to the Tikka
Putting together a sleep system
Deciding on a backcountry tent. Leaning towards the SO Cimarron.

If 2000$ is left over at the end of it all, I’ll be upgrading the Vortex Vipers to some Searovskis  :o

I bought a EXO 3500 in Fusion, new Enlightened Equipment Convert Down sleeping bag, Six Moon's Lunar Duo Explorer tent, a Bushnell Engage 6-24x50 scope for my 300wm. I still need to get a sleeping pad, I think I'm going Thermorest NeoAir.

I need to upgrade my sleeping bag and pad. Other than that, I think I’m pretty well covered. Tossing around the idea of a lightweight semi-custom rifle. We shall see...

Got a few items this winter/summer to add to or upgrade my elk hunting toolkit.  Luxe Hiking Gear Megahorn III Tipi (add); Lite Outdoors Titanium Cylinder Stove (add); Nemo Hornet 2 tent (upgrade/lighter); Sig Sauer KILO1250 RF (upgrade/longer range); Klymit Insulated Static V Sleeping Pad (and Klymit pillow) (lighter than previous system); VIAM Outdoors 10 degree quilt (upgrade/lighter); Desert Walker Backpack Cot (good for old bones :)..); EXO 3500 K2 (replaced second GEN EXO 3500); and not really elk or deer hunting, but got a Savage 93R (wood stock) .17 HMR.  Holy heck, I'm glad Mrs. Wapiti doesn't look at this forum .  I think I'm good for a long, long time on my gear.

Im pretty happy with my enlightened equipment quilt, super light weight, no mummy feel and you can build them to your specs.  I had a zero degree built, with my under clothes on I’ve been pretty comphy in the back country. I’ve also paid good money for pads, I almost feel the crap acccordian style ones are just as good as any.
