Ocean shores crabbing

Has anybody crabbed off the ocean shores Marina docks with any luck? I'm headed there next weekend for our anniversary, and was hoping to get some crab while we are there.

I doubt any crab come in there and it’s private anyway.  Get yourself a castable crab hawk type trap and cast it from near the shallow jetty on Damon point.  Use chicken legs for bait.  I sometime get limits, sometime no keepers.  Never can tell.  If I’m around when you’re here, I’m glad to show you how.  If you have access to a boat, you can get crab out from the marina a short distance .  Usually pretty calm water on the north bay.

Been a while since anyone has asked about this... I'm headed out to Ocean Shores the first week of April and hoping to try a little crabbing from the beach. Still need to read the regs to make sure it's open/etc  :chuckle: With that said anyone's recommendations or pics I'd love to hear or see. Looking forward to getting out to the ocean for a week.

Should be open if I recall correctly. Not sure about Ocean Shores per se, but when clamming on beaches further north in the spring, I have seen people scooping up crabs with nets when the crabs are caught in the troughs at low tide. I've also caught several by mistake when fishing for surf perch in the same time frame.

Just an fyi Damon point access is closed including the jetty there. They are stabilizing the shoreline due to some serious erosion. A lot of people crab in Oyhut bay or off that Jetty.

Oh that is a bummer, that is actually the spot I was hoping to go. Maybe it will be reopened in a couple of months. I have been watching the crazy damage Ocean Shores has received this year on the Ocean Shores Facebook page I follow. Been a crazy ride there at times this winter.

About half of Damon point is gone and you can’t even go out on a high tide since the water cut it in half.
