Sandhill Cranes
« on: August 08, 2018, 12:45:02 PM »
Here's some photos of three sandhill cranes feeding in a friend's yard in Soldotna, Alaska.  They are considered a delicacy up here. I always know summer is short when the Sandhill cranes show up in Cordova on their migration south. On a good day, you'll see thousands of them and even on cloudy foggy days when you can't see them, you'll hear their unique cricket like vocalizations as they pass overhead.

" In today's instant gratification society, more and more pressure revolves around success and the measurement of one's prowess as a hunter by inches on a score chart or field photos produced on social media. Don't fall into the trap. Hunting is-and always will be- about the hunt, the adventure, the views, and time spent with close friends and family. " Ryan Hatfield

Saw a couple in Idaho this spring. Cool bird.

Does Alaska have a season on them?
