When the end comes, what guns are you taking?
« on: December 06, 2018, 09:32:10 PM »
If the crap hits the fan and you have to get out fast with your family. Natural disaster or some kind of attack . What firearms are you taking and why?

Given the roads maybe jammed with cars along most of I 5. You might be reduced to other means of travel. You can’t take the safe full of guns, which ones go with you?

For me

I would take my two Bond Hand Cannons with 9mm, 380, 45 LC/.410 barrels. And a
KSG 12 ga. If room I would throw in the SVE 9 with four 16 ct. mags.

If the stores were being looted I think the common rounds would disappear first like 5.56,223, etc. .410 would maybe be passed over. And 12 ga is common and can be found every where.

What’s your plan?

Oh a good bug out thread  8)

Your requirements for the trip will be very different than your requirements for the arrival.

Since I've already arrived, I don't have to worry about what to pack, only how to defend it.

Ruger Old Army of course! Plenty of bullet lead from wheel weights off people’s abandoned cars. Load it with anything, BP, Pyro, Smokeless, it doesnt care (Bill Ruger proved that years ago). 10000 caps in a sandwich bag. Loaded for life!

This is an interesting idea that has been displayed in several different Apocalypse films.  Sadly this states wheel weights are mostly Zinc now not lead. I personally love black powder guns.  Then again i like most retro primal things like archery as well.

For this discussion i dont think  guns are important just ammo. IMO a 9mm pistol with a carbine that takes the same mags would be as good as it gets. a close second would be a 357 revolver and a lever gun in the same caliber.

If you want to look at the most realistic issue Washington may face look at the Cascadia rising  earthquake event. the Washington national guard did a simulation test a few years ago, but USED THE CURRENT INTERNET INFRASTRUCTURE! imagine life where EVERY bridge to the PCT was collapsed.  pretty scary  and difficult to plan for when you realize life wouldnt return to normal for 5 years on the west side.

I was near the Locks during the Nisqually  quake and that was just a baby. Since i was on a pier it was accentuated.

In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

Ruger 10/22 is probably the best option for a true survival apocalypse gun. I would grab that and my Glock 22 if I had to choose two guns, third would be Mini 30 in 7.62x39 , allowed a fourth gun my GAP 7mm Rem mag.

AR15 rifle and Carbon15 Pistol both use the same mags and same round. FN FiveseveN, AR57 and FN P90 all shoot the same round but different mags. 92FS Beretta and Cx4 Storm both shoot the same round with same mags.

I took way to long to think about this  :dunno: with my roommate g17, g23, ar, ak, shotgun. I feel like you could handle most everything with those guns. From 2 legged critters up to needing to survive off animals up to deer sized game.

I too sold all of my guns to Make America Safe Again. If I still owned any, however, I'd be taking a 10/22, 6.5 Grendel AR, and an XD .45. Damn, I sold all of the ammo, too. On second thought, to keep my family really safe, I know I'll stock up on these:

Only taking 23 rounds of ammo huh?  Wish I was that great of a shot!  (Kidding of course - I see those are mag/cylinder sizes)  you have the added benefit of 2 kinds of ammo that you could use in at least 2 if not all 3 of them.

For me it would be a rifle in 22LR (probably a scoped takedown 10-22 threaded for suppressor that also has iron sites), a nice solid 12Gauge 870 express, a 357 revolver and a scoped 308 Bolt Action also threaded.

If there was room I'd toss in a 7mm Bolt action and one of those Kel Tec PMR 30's.
