From what Iíve read muskrat go through cycles w with the population just like rabbits.  They eat them selves out of house and home and end up with a huge die off. Then they rebound and the population gets huge. Then they eat them selves out of house and home again. I canít remember how long the cycle was though

Pond muskrats seem more vulnerable to that than running water rats

Nice job. Great pictures of the mink. Every time I get close to one in a cage they squeal like crazy. Last year we saw a pond in eastern Washington that had at least a dozen muskrats siting around easting grass everytime we passed by. rarely see them here unless at night.

 Even with a single wide in bigger water it is easy to funnel the rats into the trap. Crazy how oily these little buggers are.
