Dave smith or Dennis dillon for new ram purchase?
« on: March 13, 2019, 08:40:13 PM »
So weve been contemplating getting back into a truck camper the past few trips weve take with the travel trailer.
My shortbed f250 could handle a smaller camper, but we want a 9-10' one, and still be able to pull other toys.

Enter a new ram! Looking at getting a 2019 tradesman 3500 drw, with the hemi. I've always heard go to Dave smith, but lately I'm hearing alot about Dennis dillion as well.

Does one stand out above the other in any way?
Thanks for the info!

You see a million Dave Smith plates on the road, but I have stopped there twice and couldn't come close to a deal.

I don't know the other one.

I wasnt impressed with Dave Smith and ended up buying my Ram 2500 at Dick Hannah in Vancouver.  They had the best price.  But for a Tradesman Dennis Dillon might be your best bet, and price.

I kept looking on line at Dave Smith for rigs.  I think they use every tracking cookie imaginable.  Dave Smith pops up on every page I open now.

Yep. I've been on their website twice, and it's on every popup imaginable.
I like that Dennis dillon has prices posted on their website.

Dave Smith is riding on their enormity, people assuming they got the best deals there because they've slung the most feces on the wall and got some to stick.

In 1999 I went through Costco and bought a 2500 Quad cab diesel saving over $5K. Drove that truck for 18 years and 260,000 miles. Went to the Costco dealer again and was not impressed. So started looking at Dave Smith and saved about $10k from the Costco program. I loved my experience with Dave Smith!  :twocents:

I am sure you are being truthful.

I just could never understand how they sold that many rigs, but I couldn't come close with them...... :dunno: :dunno: :dunno:

They sell a billion rigs, so they must be doing something right.

The staff told me when I was there they sell between 1200-1500 rigs a month. They also have seven shuttles that pick people up from the airport. Some of the vehicles are never even seen by the buyer at the dealership because they are shipped directly to them.

When i was truck shopping i was looking at chevys and rams and i priced checked chevy prices with dave smith and they were at the same price or a little over that other local dealers I was looking at. I have heard good things about Dennis Dillon. Spec out the truck you want and get prices from both and go with the lowest. I bought my 2500 tradesman from Lithia Dodge in Eugene oregon.

Eugene oregon.

Do you avoid salestax that way, or did they catch up on that and nail you now.

If you bring any vehicle into wa and didn't pay taxes on it you will when you tag/title it.

If the vehicle is purchased in another state and you DO pay taxes in that state, you better have a way to prove you paid taxes on it whenever you bought it.  If no proof (even if bought 20 years ago), you will then pay taxes (on KBB value) again in Wa when tag and title happens.

The only way you can save on tax for things that need titles is if you buy them in parts and get separate receipts.  This might be hard with trucks, but if you get a bunch of accessories, warranties or stuff that can be separated from the truck, have them invoiced separately.
