I know a lot of this is just joking around but why are do so many get so wrapped up in barrel life.  If it's that big a concern, we'd all be shooting 223's or 308's.  As the gunsmith that built my very first rifle once told me, barrels are threaded for a reason.

Besides, it's not like this is an extreme overbore setup so I'd imagine a 22 Creed Imp. should pretty easily see around 1000rnds of good shooting, and since I don't really think this is BH's only rifle, that's quite a bit of shooting.

BH, what powder are you thinking about using in this new creation?  I'll bet RL26 will be your best performer with regard to velocity.  The bad part is, unless you already have some, finding any RL26 will be the hard part.
Because barre life is the “in” thing to talk about online right now.  :chuckle:

99% of guys talking about barrel life on a forum have never shot out a barrel and never will.

Yes. RL-26 is what I will start with. I can get it locally here on the East Side. I may have a partial bottle on hand.

I’m busy counting change I found under my truck seats at the time, to cover my special permit applications.😮😉

Seems like it might be the perfect antelope and/or wolf gun......   I mean if you don't shoot the barrel out while sighting it in.

Sure seems like it would be a hoot to shoot.

Barrels are like tires. You’ll go through more with a hot rod but way more fun!

Peterson will soon be releasing .22 Creedmoor Match Brass. I begged, sniveled and whined long enough with them that they kicked me down some cases before their release.

I also like the Peterson 6.5 Creedmoor “Fat Neck” Brass. It is produced with a thicker neck. Specifically for shooters that like to neck turn. You can neck turn it to fit your factory chambers just perfect or your custom set up.

Is that 338 belted?

Yes. My 7.21 Sage is a blown out Improved 300 Win Mag case, necked down to 7mm. My go to load is a 180 ELD-X @ 3183. It has a higher impact velocity at 400 yards than a 7mm Magnum has at the muzzle with a 180gr bullet. It’s faster than a 7mm Ultra Mag and just 30 FPS or so shy of a 28 Nosler. With 74gr of powder(H1000)and I’m not pushing it as hard as it can go. The 162gr ELD-X run the same velocities as a 28 Nosler 3325 FPS with 77.1gr of H-1000. I’ve shot them at 3377fps with great accuracy but it was hard on brass.

Hovers at a 1/3 MOA @ 300 yards.

A friend was looking at one of my formed 7.21 Sage cases and said “How about we do the same thing as the Sage but stuff a .338 bullet in it and see what it does”. I thought what the heck, did some math for the free bore and the bullets we wanted to use and I ordered the reamer.

If it works out. I have a pile of new .300 Win Mag Brass I can use in three rifles. The .300 Win Mag, the 7.21 Sage and the .338 BSB. It will walk all over a .338 Win Mag and I want to see how it will run with my .338 Ultra and my .338 Edge.

From left to right. .338 Win Mag case, unformed .338 BSB, 7mm Mag case, formed 7.21 Sage cartridge.

Once the .338 BSB is fire formed, it will have the same case dimensions as the 7.21 Sage cartridge on the far right. We set this up to run from AICS Mags and both will run from a standard unmodified Rem700 Magnum Action.

To mute the “Belt” internet crowd. I can head space off the shoulder just as easily as the belt. I already own two beltless .338 chamberings.

The Sage cartridge pictured is the 35 degree version. I also have a 40 degree reamer/version, along with a 40 degree die reamer. I haven’t chambered with it yet. I got the die reamer for the 40 degree version of the Sage so I didn’t have to wait almost a year for custom dies.

Icing on the cake. A guy can just run the .338 BSB reamer  into a factory .388 Win Mag chamber, clean it up and improve performance considerably and not change anything else on the rifle. There are two .338 BSB customs being put together right now and I was thinking about picking up a Remington 700 AWR with the 5R barrel in .338 Win Mag running the .338 BSB reamer into it and seeing how it does.

Grabagun has the .338 AWR for $813.99

Or, you could have just done it the easy way and used my 338/375 Ruger reamer...... :chuckle:
