Best of luck either way.

I’m going to turn my permit  in and try again next year. Good luck to your son

Which tag did you have out there? Itd be hard to turn in knowing it could be years before you ever draw it again...
I have the muzzleloader tag I had 22 points

Roll the dice. You already did and won. The odds of getting drawn again in future years is slim. Besides, the odds are pretty good with the way things are going internationally those soldiers might be deployed elsewhere, by hunting season, somewhere that they won't be practicing anymore.

The odds say turning a tag back to WDFW is basically never a smart move if you actually care about going hunting.  Even a person with max points right now in most categories is bucking extremely low odds to draw a tag.  You will not just draw it again in a year or two if you turn it back.  You may die first.  Seriously.

Make the best of the situation and go kill a bull!

Yikes, that a lot of points at risk for a unit they might not even let you in! Hard to swallow that many points and not even being able to hunt. I could see why youd turn the tag in!

You can know plenty of areas, but if they're all shut down like they're saying they could be, that knowledge is useless and 14 years down the drain. Hoping for the best for you though.

I agree. Every year it’s a pain in the butt dodging training area closures. If they’re offering a tag turn in it sounds like a guy could get screwed. Extending the season for you guys would have been a better option in my opinion.

Yes go kill a bull.......unless you can't actually access the instillation and then just visualize what it would be like to kill a bull :chuckle:

Those permits include 334 this year, is there any opportunity there?

In this specific case if a permit holder turns the permit in will the WDFW re-offer the permit to the next alternate standing in line from the drawing?

Hey, if you’re happy with the possibilty of dieing with 40 regular bull preference points I totally agree.  By turning it back in he pretty much guarantees he’s got lots of years ahead to visualize killing a bull instead of chasing one.

I highly doubt the WDFW would do this.
