This was 12 year old Noah's first ever big game hunt, his dad brought him on a Washington bear hunt. The first evening they had 11 elk including three spikes within 20 yards of their blind. The next morning they heard a bear in the brush but it never showed itself. On the second evening (last night) guide Ray set up on a waterhole that has been historically good. Just before dark Noah spotted the bear first, it came to drink through a low spot and it's back was barely visible, he had to stand up and shot offhand dropping the bear face first into the pond mud with one well placed shot through both shoulders and lungs with his 6.5 creedmore. His expression tells the story, excellent job Noah!  :IBCOOL:

Great start to the season, Dale. I can't wait to see more as it progresses.

We are busy archery elk hunting, it's been tough, the elk have not been calling good, we see them and have tried various tactics but had no shots yet, however, the last couple days the elk are starting to turn on. Yesterday we saw 6 bulls and probably heard another 6 or 8 bulls bugle but we couldn't get any of them close enough for shots. This morning one guide called one good 6x6 bull to 7 yards and another guide called another medium sized bull to 25 yards. Two arrows were released but didn't find blood, one bull took off completely but the other guide is still on the other bull and waiting a while to go after it again, it is still talkative, they know right where he's at right now, but don't want to blow him out of there, so they are waiting a little while. A third guide spotted two bulls and think they have one bedded in a brush pocket, the hunter was pretty whipped plus they did't want to blow that bull out of there so the hunter is napping now and they are going after that bull again this evening. I like the old saying, 'the third time is a charm", so I'm hoping we find blood on the next shot opportunity.

Ray is busy farming again for a couple weeks. Daniel saw two nice 4x4 bucks yesterday and found a fairly nice 6 point muley shed a couple days ago. No bucks in bow range yet, but we've been concentrating on elk.
