Shilapoo Deer Archery Hunting
« on: August 06, 2019, 10:09:55 AM »
Hello all,

New to the forums. I was curious if anyone has had any luck archery hunting deer in the Shilapoo area?
I grew up hunting in the East Klickitat area since my grandfather and uncle owned land up there. A few years ago they moved however. Still have access to some property, but I've noticed that there's an increase in the coyote population and a decrease in the deer than run through the property. So, I'm looking at exploring other possibilities.
I live in Vancouver now, so this would be pretty convenient to hunt but I have no idea about the area.

Any information would be helpful.
Thanks!

I have seen deer there while bird hunting, but have never hunted deer there myself. Probably not a good weekend hunt, but an after woork for a couple hours if its close by your home it may be good.  :twocents:
In archery we have something like the way of the superior man. When the archer misses the center of the target, he turns round and seeks for the cause of his failure in himself.

:yeah: You also have to be very careful about the Columbia whitetails around there. The end of the road abuts the Ridgefield Nat'l Wildlife Refuge, to where all of the Columbia whitetails were relocated. Protected species.

Coyots dont realy have a big effect on deer populations. The deer are in there at vancover lake but there are few . and you got to be carfull about the whitetail deer in the area

This is where all the Columbia Whitetail are at.  You will see them through that area.  They cannot be harvested.  Off limits.  I have taken a few BT back in the day down there with my shotgun.
Cut em!
