 I hang my beaver up high in the trees to keep them away from the coyotes. Looks like I've trained one to climb! Baits are about 3 miles apart. I'm assuming same coyote. First cameras date is off. Both pics are same day.

 It's that time of the season where I'm beginning to burnout. More than any other outdoor activity, trapping is a grind. The line is heartless. It does not care about your job. It does not care if you are sick. It does not care about family or friends. It does not care if you are exhausted. It has to be ran. Fur has to be put up. My truck reeks. While running the line my mind is now on kokanee fishing. Brook trout. Gardening. My couch. Though I love the taste of fresh coffee bouncing in my mug while rumbling up logging roads I long to enjoy it on the patio with my bride warming up in the morning sun. Feels like forever since I've been able to do that. I'm tired of doing so much laundry the line creates. Tired of misplacing things because I'm too tired. The adrenaline still kicks in when setting a trap just perfectly but I now fear success more than failure.  :chuckle: Yes, I believe it is time to pull the line, clean up and put everything away.


 I'll miss it within a week.

I hear ya, to many late nights putting up fur. My ol lady is starting to think I like castor canidensis beaver more than.....well ya know

Or, like me, I realize I'll go broke slower if I quit burning diesel persueing  fur that wont pay the cost of production.
That coyote is a great example for anyone interested in harvesting salable coyote fur.
Note the wooly tail. Then note the wooly areas on the top of both hips. This coyote is what we call broke. The fur is breaking, getting springy, rubbing, shedding. This coyote is past the point of being marketable.
