You know what you could do?  You could push a 26 Nosler reamer into your barrel about .150" deeper and headspace off of a 338 RUM go gage and have yourself a 26 Boondoogle! It would essentially be a 6.5 Badger with a 35° shoulder that would let you use standard 26 Nosler dies. Then you can pick up some ADG 338 RUM brass and have some REAL fun.

Look at me helping!  :chuckle:

Just be sure to put plenty of sand in the barrel threads and pull a length of 40 weight barbed wire through the barrel to keep in line with the original Boondoogle.

Ouch! :chuckle:

I should have just thrown one of my Boondoogle barrels on an action and pawned it off on Jolten. Then it can be his problem and I can move on to the next failed project! :IBCOOL:

Feel free I could use a good looking paperweight ;)

Transforming a Savage 110 270win into a 26 nosler.

-Recoil lug
- McGowen prefit barrel
     - 28"
     - Sendero contour
     - 1-8" twist
     - 26 Nosler
     - Savage small shank threads
     - muzzle threaded 5/8x24
     - 5/8x24 turbo-brake
- DBM bottom metal with 1 magazine
- Boyd's At-One stock
- Timney trigger

Hoping to use Barnes 127gr LRX at roughly 3600fps. Big shout out to York for talking a newbie through all this. Should be a fun first build.
What powder are you planning on trying? I had good results with US869 and Retumbo  :twocents:

I figured I'd tryout 869 first and see what happens. Primers not quite settled on yet

If anyone has an accutrigger they're not using I might be interested in it. If I can figure out a way to swap it anyway.

I have had great luck with McGowen.  Hope yours is great too!

Have you tried the turbobrake of theirs yet?
nope. I’m a terminator guy

Have used MBM, Terminator 4, and now the Fat Lil B** Gen 3 - really liking it.  Tuned the top ports until muzzle lift was zero.   Think the Larger FB Gen 3 is my next brake.  Not a big deal with little calibers and heavy barrels but big guns and whippy barrels its nice to be able to tune.

Yes shouldn't be too much muzzle rise with my set up I'd think

Trying to decide if I want a 20moa base and what optic to run. It's for up to 600yards for deer rifle. Thinking maybe a 6-24x? Any input

Trying to keep the total cost below 2k if possible. I'm looking in the sub $800 range but won't rule it out

I can hook you up with some killer prices on leupold if you choose to go that route and stay in right at or close to your budget.

Well barrel should be here any day now. Debating on if I should use the factory recoil lug or order one in. Also thinking of staying with the Boyd's stock or switch ya chassis system...

I would buy a precision ground recoil lug and a barrel nut. I bought mine from NSS.
