Foxpro vs. Icotec
« on: April 05, 2020, 06:52:39 PM »
Looking to upgrade my caller.  Opinions on sound quality, etc between foxpro and icotec?  I'm looking to stay under $250.  Suggestions?  Want it to be fairly packable as I'm wanting to start carrying it in my backpack for when I run into wolves.

For that price icotec hands down. Foxpro doesn’t even give you a backlit remote until you spend like $400. My icotec has called in a lot of coyotes and 1 wolf. Still no mt. Lion but that’s purely my fault of not knowing how to put the sounds together like I do coyotes. I’m considering upgrading to a gen 2 icotec for the timer on the remote. That’s a nice feature they forgot on the original models.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Thanks for the feedback.

I saw the Foxpro fx7 on sale for $250.  Would that be better than the icotec.

If you are going to try calling wolves then you probably want something programmable.

In that case I would go with the Foxpro for the interface.

You can save a bit with the GC350 but the interface isn't digital.

Both will do the job.

I have a cheap FoxPro  Wildfire 2. Have called in many coyotes and a cougar with it. (The cougar was at night so a no go.)  The only thing I don't like about it is the small screen size and letters on the remote. If you can memorize the corresponding numbers to sounds you can display them only and are of readable size at night.
If I need a permit and education to buy a firearm than women should need a permit and education  before getting an abortion.

I have 135 calls on my icotec. Over 300 in my library. MFK, Stan Burt, Rain shadow, and a couple others. Even have random mp3 files. So if you go GC500 instead of gc350 you get all you’d need in a call. You’re paying for the name with foxpro in my opinion. Quality of sound is the same until you get to the insanely expensive calls.
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Foxpro must be line of sight, ICOtec doesn’t need line of sight to work.   ICOtec are the only calls on the market that have this capability.  I’d recommend the Outlaw there $400 but I have a 25% off discount code for ya if you want the ICOtec, $300 is a heck of deal!!!!! Shoot me a pm
I provide a service to cattle ranchers year around that have problem coyotes.  I also provide guided night hunts year around. I sell Night Vision and Thermal optics. The scopes I use are the NVision Halo XRF and Pulsar Merger XL50 LRF HD Binoculars
