Woman Beginner Looking for Group and Mentors - Vancouver, WA
« on: April 25, 2020, 09:38:48 PM »
Hello

I'm a 34 year old beginner, working through the hunting license course, reading as many articles and books as possible, looking for local experienced mentors and groups.

I moved to WA six years ago and did not grow up with family members that hunt. I have only fished in the past. Hunting is something I've spent a few years researching and I'd like to start going out into the woods.

Ideally it would be great to find people I can join during outings, to become familiar with walking through the woods beyond established trails, common hunting etiquette, safety suggestions, and guidance with animals. I am not afraid of long hikes, carrying gear, or helping in any way I can.

Didn't there used to be a Women's board here ? If I remember right, there were several like minded gals with similar interests.

I'd be happy to put you in touch with a lady here in the Spokane area who can provide resources as well. She's put a lot of energy into building up connections and opportunities for other women hunters. Please feel free to send me a PM and I'll pass it over to her.

Welcome! I started recently as a beginner too. I echo the suggestion to join the women's board. I'm on the east side, but there are a number of ladies closer to you as well. Joining late can feel frustrating, but there are a lot of great people on the forum.

Hello Everyone,

Thank you all for your responses and helpful advice.

My request to join the women's board was approved, originally I could not post on the women's board until my request to join was approved.

I will post on the women's board moving forward.

Hopefully we didnt deter you from posting in the rest of the forum regularly. I think most of us are being protective about making sure you connect with other women in addition to the rest of the forum.  :) and being cautious
