MT Antelope
« on: June 01, 2020, 03:14:07 PM »
Who else is in?  I should have about 80% chance to draw.

I just read the anticipated draw date is Aug 6, 9+ weeks makes WA look pretty speedy.

100% odds for me or ay least they should be. My hunt would start on Aug 15th so hopefully they can get it done at some point in July

Anyone hear about the general herd health?  I ask because of the problems WY has had, my MT family and contacts aren't into antelope so I have zero intel about what's going on over there now regarding antelope.

My buddy in the SE corner said herd health is outstanding. Spring has been mild. Things are looking good.

Its a blast
make sure you scout this summer and knock on some doors
and make sure you dont go too late in the season, the horns sometimes come off

Thanks
It was so cool to watch them rutting and I actually watched the herd buck and the buck I shot fighting the night before the opener
Decided I liked him better than the herd buck
He scored 71

If you get drawn you will have great time
You will see lots of antelope in eastern MT
Hunt onX and landowner permission is a must although tons of BLM land

for overall heath of the heard,  I go by the number of road kills, it looks pretty good. I often wonder what the road kill take is for Deer and Antelope in MT, must be staggering!
