Older Hunter Looking to Mentor
« on: July 01, 2020, 06:13:07 PM »
I have been hunting and fishing throughout the USA for almost 40 years, mostly, modern rifle for deer and elk and an occasional pistol hunt for pigs in Florida. I now live in Bellingham. At age 9, I was introduced to the outdoors by my grandfather who also was an avid hunter. Hunting with him were some of my fondest memories. I hunted with my son for many years and taught him to scout, navigate, trap and track. By the time he was 16 he knocked down 2 elk and 3 deer.  The last 5 years I've been hunting on my own. Currently I am hunting the Canadian border for Blacktail. I enjoy it but I also enjoy the company of others around the campfire too. I would like to pass it forward to the new hunters by sharing my knowledge and experiences. BUT ALSO, now that I'm starting to get older and realize that sometimes my head writes checks my body can't cash, my wife says I need someone who can help me drag an animal out of the bush :). I would be happy to impart my outdoors knowledge to an individual who respects nature, listens to instruction, practices firearm safety and has the ability to pay there own way or half expenses...in other words be responsible and considerate of others.
Now, If you are an experienced hunter and simply want a partner, I am open to that as well.
Send me a PM if you are interested. Thanks.

That’s very generous. Somebody just starting out should step up and take that offer!

I created an account just to respond to this post because I've been looking for a partner just like you Capt.Cajun.

For what it's worth, it looks like you have several folks lined up, and I don't want to take away from what you already have going. However, if you know of anybody in the Chehalis/Centralia area that is looking to do the same, please send them my way - or send me their way.

I still need a good partner for this year and all I want to do is learn so I can teach my boy in a couple of years when he is ready. I try take a week of vacation every year for elk hunting.

Thanks,

Sean
