WTS Alaska Fishing Trips (3) that we can't go on....
« on: July 07, 2020, 07:25:06 PM »
Hopefully this type of ad is ok.

We usually go fishing every year to Calder Mountain Lodge in Point Baker, Alaska.   This year however we cannot go and the lodge does not offer us any options other than to sell our time there.   So I have 3 spots available(in one room) for an all inclusive trip starting Aug 29th - Sept 4th.   We also paid a little extra for an enclosed boat.     The lodge is a self-guided trip where they provide all the tools to catch a lot of fish.   they provide the boat, tackle, food, rain gear and filleting.   you'll fly into Petersburg where they pick you up and transport you by boat to the lodge.  Then at the end of the trip they transport you and your frozen fish back to Petersburg to fly out.  the cost of the flight is not included in the price of the trip.    We routinely limit each person on silvers every day as well as bring home lots of halibut.   We paid $2800 per person for these plus additional for the boat but I'm willing to let them go for a bit less and/or make some sort of deal with the right person.   I will also point you  to the spots where we've caught a bunch of fish.

The time frame doesnt work for me, but someone needs to snatch this up.  It will be the time of your life.  Southeast AK is a beautiful place on earth and Point Baker is no exception.

The 14 day quarantine/testing could make it difficult?

Exactly. Failed to mention that.

If you take the nasal swab test and recieves a negative result within 72 hours of your departure to AK, there is no quarantine and this trip wouldn't be affected.

Sumner strait in early Sept is famous for the Stikine river run coho, big and plentiful.  I've fished it before, it can be pretty good.

Good luck with sale 👍

Outdoor Line podcast had a section on getting to AK and your options to get in and out without any issue.  Sounds like they had no problem, anyone interested might want to give that a listen.

If someone is considering this but on the fence because of air travel concerns have no worries. My dad, brother and nephew flew prince of whales via Ketchikan this morning with no travel issues. They got the 72 hour testing done in advance with no issues and no airport hang ups.

My dad had to go up to a drive through place up in Renton. He had to make an appointment. Unsure on where my brother went. They are off the grid for a week but I will check with them later.

Do you know what day that podcast was?

I don't remember, it wasn't yesterday and they didn't do a show over the 4th, so the week before that or maybe the one before that.

If I remember right, they did the test locally and carried their results but they also do it at the main AK airports.  If it were me, I would want it done ahead of time and call around to see what the backlog on results is as it sounds like the labs may have a longer wait now then a few weeks ago.
