6:45am on Sat. My daughter made 2 great shots at 350 on this nice boar. East side in the heat, luckily he died in the shade.

Makes me smile just looking at the young lady and her bear. What a hunting future I'll bet she has ahead of her.

Proud dad for sure. She just turned 9. I just bought her this CVA Cascade In 6.5 creedmoor. Put the brake on and away she goes. She has been practicing with a savage axis in .243. But this is much nicer.

Haha, message me and I'll give you guys my wife's number for where she got her boots. I've just been waiting till it gets closer to deer to buy her a real pair. She's growing so fast. She drew a Mason deer tag this year and I don't think these will be warm enough. I saw that @D-Rock425was looking for a youth rifle. I am very pleased with this cascade. Adjustable lop, 2 swivel studs, threaded barrel, cerekote barrel, nice camo pattern all for 519$. My only concern is I found 1 mushroomed 120 grain round that didn't penetrate much into the muscle in the shoulder. Worried that if she hits an Elk off target I'm going to be tracking a ways. We'll see I guess.

We'll be in 418 and or 407 over the weekend.  If any of you are up there and see a silver '06 Silverado with a black tailgate... Stop and say hi. lol :)

Gary
You ever been in the 437 at all?

Man, I haven't hunted south of the river in a loooooong time.  Used to be good deer, bear, and grouse up Finney/Cumberland.  Back in the late 1990's and early 2000's there was a serious decline in game in that GMU for some reason.  Lots of active logging back then.  Might be decent hunting now.  It's been at least 20 years since I've been up there.  Stumbled upon a great place to sight in rifles one time up there.  Doubt if it's still there though.

We struck out on opening weekend in 418.  Saw one, but unable to get a shot.  :(

Gary
One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

My buddy ended up shooting one, opening morning and we spent the rest of the day taking care of that, yesterday I had one at 370 yard but it never turned broadside.
A bad day out hunting is better than a good day at work!

You must be a proud dad, Stew. Well done, young lady!
