Willapa River Newb
« on: September 22, 2020, 08:30:16 PM »
Heading to willipa bay this weekend for a family camping trip. Was there for the elk opener and saw a lot of people fishing the river for silvers. Just curious what people are catching them on from the bank? 6 silvers a day is crazy to think about. If you guys could give me some pointers that would be awesome.  Thank you!!

If we get all the rain that are predicting on wens and Thurs the river will be blown out. If it's fishable I will tell you a few spots to try.

6 fish is pretty optimistic, being how WDFW has set out to destroy the fishing in every river in willapa bay under their new management strategy.

the same things that work for them everywhere else will work there, still a bit early though.  usually more kings than silvers in there until you get into october.  access is pretty spotty for the most part, most of them are pretty obvious and right off the highway.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

They are doing a great job of ruining the fishing down here.

Was there tuesday the chinooks are in. A very few silvers. Its a little early for them, usually in october. And remember the six fish limit is only two adults, the rest have to be jacks, between 12 and 20 inches. It can be done. I got a six fish limit back in the 80's.

eggs down low.  Spinners, spoons and eggs up higher.  Jigs work at certain flows for silvers but isn't a consistent producer for me  Like others said, access is tough and most of the spots are obvious.
I know I've lost it, let me know if you come across it
