Found a wallow

I'm not sure if this will get much use since the recent rains and cooler temps but it's an interesting find.

Wallows are always a cool find.  Certainly something to store in your memory banks for next year.  Remember that wallows are an August, very early September spot for elk to roll around in, whizz in, cool down in, dig around in, drink out of sometimes (barf), etc.  Sure, some wallows will get use well into October, even November in rare cases but rare is the key word here.  All that said, the "area" the wallow is in should certainly be of interest as it may very well hold elk at a given point of any day (could be near feeding, bedding areas, or.. be just off a travel route(s)…).  Again, cool find.

Was in the neighborhood so I swung by to see if it was still there.  Sure enough, one year later and it's still there, and still being used.

Bumped a couple of cows on my way in.  I don't know if they were wallowing or not but they were within 20 yards of the wallow.
