Anyone use koro traps for mink? Was it effective? How did it go? Any pointers or tips for someone new to mink trapping?

If you read back  through the threads from last year quite a few guys have been doing pretty well with the koros with skunk and marten and a few guys were trying for mink not sure if anybody connected but they won't have an issue dispatching a mink those little traps are rowdy  :chuckle:

I never set any for mink last year but I believe they’d do the job.

Build boxes and brush them in or dig a cut out in the bank of the stream or slough and pretty much a pocket set

They work on marten so I know they will work on mink
Muskrat or duck would be your best bait

Did you guys see they are calling for almost all the mink in Denmark to be culled for fear of Coronavirus!

I am not so sure they are going to work on mink. Mink are a lot tougher then marten so I do not think you can draw conclusions from any success marten trapping.
I do not know anyone who has caught a mink in one. The only way we will find out is with a little experimentation. I hope we will hear the results of anyone trying for mink.
My suggestion: I would set the traps where if they prove to be not lethal the mink would drown. Mink sets typically go near water anyway so turning it into a drowning set if the mink remains alive should be easy enough.

Little miniature drowner rod would be very easy to make. Trap itself may be heavy enough if staked off in deeper water to act as drowner

I'll be setting a few land sets tomorrow. Hopefully I'll have an answer in a few days.
