should the beaver meat be kept as fresh as possible for bobcat or let it go bad?

Marten I use fresh thawed bait
I’ve caught plenty of cats on the nastiest dripping bait possible

I take the castor and dry it
Gut  the beaver then I quarter it and cut the head off for cat bait
Then I cut all the belly meat out and half the size of your fist just put in sandwich bags and freeze
The day before you set or check traps pull a bag out for your resets or new sets
Don’t through any away

Jake, I used to take a tin of sardines and use it at my cat sets in MT.  Open the tin of sardines by pulling back the tab but not all the way, leaving lid attached, drip the juice around the entrance to the cubby (in the modern day WA trapping, obviously a box trap). Throw the oily sardines inside the set and then hang the empty tin by a piece of trapping wire, as high as you can get it on a branch. The tin will turn and “flash” in the wind. Bobcats are super curious and are attracted to the tin and cone check out where your set is at. Have you tried this before?  RJ

Yep !! I’ve tried pretty much everything at least twice but my 2 favorite cat baits are beaver or duck and if I’m only putting beaver in the cage I’m still throwing feathers all around !
My eye appeal is a duck wing hung with mono fishing line and a little lure on it

  Ya, used to use beaver a lot in our sets. The wing on mono and scattered feathers is a great tactic.

Breast them out for me !! For cats I cut the wings off ( to be hung for eye appeal with lure ) hang the whole duck in the back and rip a lot of feathers out and spread outside and some inside the cage
Cats are thieves they’ll steal a free meal every chance

Judging by the moss on the trees I'm going with the wetter of the 2 climates.
