WTS Toyota Tacoma/ Advice wanted
« on: January 20, 2021, 10:47:24 AM »
I recently bought a new Toyota Tacoma and plan to sell the one Iíve owned since 2001. Iím wondering what any of you might think a fair asking price would be. Thank you.

2001 Toyota Tacoma SR5 double cab (no rear doors), 4x4, 5 speed manual transmission, 2.7L V4, 252K miles. One non-smoking owner. Regular maintenance with synthetic oil. Canopy. Michelin Defender LTX tires with about 8K miles on them. Gold, no body damage.
Nature. It's cheaper than therapy.

I'd say $7,250-$8,000, from the comps in my area.

I bought my kid a similar 01 last spring with less miles, auto trans...

Paid 6k.
Asking price was 6800.

I think you will be good in the 6500-7000 range to start.

Didn't one just sell on here for $5000 then $6500? :dunno:
As described I would guess $7000-7500. I have the same truck but the v6, love it but would much rather have the 4cyl.

A one owner truck in good condition should ring the bell. I bet Northwest Motorsport would give you what ever you wanted for it. Also start high on craigslist uve seen stupid prices on there and you can always come down. Join a Tacoma forum and post it there also Facebook marketplace. Those older trucks that are unmolested are becoming harder and harder to find.

Let me know what you decide.  I may be interested in it for my kid.

Look up the Kelley Blue Book and go from there.

And add a grand ish to the highest private part sales price. Quality used trucks are commanding top dollar above book.

If it doesn't have rear doors, it's not a double cab. It's an extra cab. All Tacoma double cabs regardless of generation have 4 doors.

If you donít have to make money to settle another debt find a youngster that will appreciate it and make their day. Have them do some pricing and make you an offer them floor um with a grand less than Edmunds value. We all have been helped at some point in life.🤟🥪

Wow, makes me wish I would have hung on to one of mine. Sold my 98 4 cyl 4x4 (in great condition) for 3k in 2014, after having it up on Craigslist for over a month. Couldnít even get anyone to look at it.  Was hard up at the time so I took the first cash in hand offer, was asking $4000.

My 2000 sr5 sold for $4500 in 2016, but it was a loaded truck and I ďhiredĒ a friend to sell it for me who actually enjoys that sort of thing.

Both trucks were 2 owner, and around 200,000 miles. I canít believe what older trucks have started going for in the past couple of years.
you can still get gas in heaven, and a drink in kingdom come,
in the meantime, i'll be cleaning my gun

without seeing pics it could sell for between 13k and 3k. i would start high and just work down. if its really clean then i would start at 13k and wait if your in no hurry to sell. might try to sell it out of state also. how is the frame on it and has it ever been replaced ?

No offense meant but anyone who pays 8-9k for a 2001 Tacoma 4 banger with 252k has lost all sanity.

Yes I know that is probably what some fool will pay for the Tacoma name.

Still think they are by far the most overpriced vehicle made.
