Good question- for me, it is just quicker to get the whole thing on my back and get it to the truck, if it is less than a mile or so, which is typical here in the Palouse. I also like to hang my deer whole for the aging period. I prefer to skin the animal while it is hanging as well. If it were more of a backcountry hunt, of course I'd quarter or bone out the meat!

Was just curious since I am sure some do it for the "cool" factor, pictures and so they can say their pack was "x" weight

Does the pic do the weight justice?
On the deer, sometimes pics can be deceiving. Guessing I would say pack weight 30 lbs.
