I've been on and off it for about 2 years and low carb for about 4 before that.  I'm currently on week 9 of weight loss with pretty strict keto (food choices, not amounts), but I don't track anything which makes it so much easier for me.

The jury is still out on whether keto or LC is better for me, but I wanted to give it a good trial as the adjustment period seems to be much longer than LC (paleo, low carb, whatever).

I'm also doing some significant fasting and keto is absolutely super helpful for that compared with higher carbs.

I saw that and we've used it. Like it. We also use Sweet Baby Ray's no sugar added - about the same carbs per serving and half the cost.

For one month now, I've been on a very strict meat only diet. I really like it alot. Loss of fat, skin is less irritable, I drink less coffee. Energy levels are higher, better mood. My only cheats are carrots, and muscle milk powder and Metamucil.
Lean or fatty,  it doesn't matter. It works great with hitting the weights.

I've added OneShot Keto twice a day and have lost 7 lbs in the last two weeks.

Been doing keto for about a year, not 100% no carbs, no sugars but about 80%.  lost about 10 lbs is all, started at 204, went to 189 at one point but seem to hover around 193, 194 most the time.  My biggest benefit is my stomach doesn't hurt as much and far less of those moments where you need a toilet like NOW!  I miss my soft taco and mexi fries, miss my chips and dip, really miss my mac n cheese and my top ramen with an egg in it.

I've seen huge benefits from Fasting and Keto, Stein.
I do an 18hr fast, twice a week Mondays and Fridays and it has helped with energy levels beyond belief.  I follow it with super high fat intake the next day and it seems to provide unlimited energy.

I have been on Keto since January of 2018, with a one month break in the fall, each year.

Went from 235, to 195 and my entire body composition changed.

It's an easy diet to prepare meals for and really is sustainable from my standpoint.

I agree, fasting and keto are pretty much automatic for me to lose weight and at a faster rate than anything else I have done.  I'm doing some extended fasting because I am impatient and want to get the fat off but will switch back to regular keto or LC when I get to my target weight - hopefully by the end of April.

A huge benefit is I don't have to count, weigh, calculate or figure anything out.  I did that for years and am pretty much done with the food scale.
All I do is watch my nut and cream/oil intake as it's easy for me to go overboard on that.  I do 1-2 servings of nuts a day, keep heavy cream to about 2 tbsp if I use it and then not go crazy with butter or oil, just use normal and reasonable amounts in cooking.  Other than that, I eat what I want in the amounts to make me full.

If you stick to the program, I'm confident it'll help your diabetes, KC. Stay healthy, brother.

ya half measures avail you nothing. I been strict for 6 weeks, down 31 lbs. if your not losing then you dont understand how it works and your body is not going into "Ketosis".

We (the family) have just finished a 14 week elimination diet. The purpose of the diet was not for weight loss but to see we had adverse effects from certain food groups. For 10 weeks we eliminated refined sugar, wheat, dairy, peanuts, corn, and alcohol. The basis of the diet was eating in proportion, third protein, third fruit, third vegetables, and eating as much as you want as long as you maintain proportion. Then at the end bringing back one of the eliminated food groups one at a time to see if you have a reaction.

Benefits from the diet: Weight loss (significant, which was not a goal), lowered blood pressure (prehypertension to normal), and an allergic reaction to dairy, which enflames my joints exacerbating my arthritis.

The toughest part of any diet is making a lifestyle change and maintaining them after the diet.
