My first trail camera, maybe a 5x5?!
« on: May 25, 2021, 04:04:55 PM »
First year doing trail cams and my second attempt at putting them up. First spot was a bust but I think this second spot might be the ticket!

Dates wrong. He was around for two days then gone for two weeks. Stoked to go check again and set up a few more.

These are from about may 10th and 11th

I think he may end up being a wide 5x5 if he’s got more growing to do. His main beam looks super thick at the base. I’m super new to this but just can’t stop scanning over the photos.

Cool pics and yes trail cams are super fun / addicting.  Hard to tell how big he will get.  He has lots of growing to do and very well could end up a 6x6 or bigger.  He has good early growth so who knows.  Keep watching him and let us know how big he gets.

Will do! I’ve got to get a few more up. There’s at least one other guy hanging out in that spot. I’ve got video of him but he’s just got the start of his growth. But I think it’s a good sign. If there’s two then there’s probably more

Somewhere west of Idaho. And north of Oregon ;)

Excellent MTE! Welcome to the addiction/big fun that is game camming  I will however, recommend one thing. Buy 3 screw in tree steps and put your cams up 10-15 feet (also make sure u don’t have them set up facing E to W). Putting them high “helps” keep bears from spinning them like a top, keeps nosey elk from taking close up selfies, and keeps most turd humans from stealing them.

Next ones might be slicked up.  That winter coat is on the way out.  Thanks

Not sure what you are referring to when you say slicked up?

He is growing fast!!

I wasn’t sure until I saw the little
Guy on my other camera barley starting to show. Makes me really excited about this guys potential, and the possibility of other good sized bulls in the area.

Great pics! Bulls are way more exciting to see on cam, but this time of year I'm trying to find the cows.  Come the rut bulls go to them, not the other way around.
God made man, Samuel Colt made them equal.

Totally, wasn’t sure what I’d get. Saw the sign. But never a physical elk so now I know and can start looking around
