Anyone on here have success on Mnt Adams? Specifically the "high country" of the southern slope?

Last year the rifle hunt overlapped with general season archery and it was anything but a quality experience.  Same story this year, I believe.

There are only 5 rifle tags that overlap the archery season, that's not the issue with that area The amount of hikers that are in there during archery season is the problem. Been hunting the area for awhile.

I’m assuming this is for deer?

I’ve seen really good bucks on NF but nothing to write home about in the wilderness.

I’ve scouted it. Hunted it and have moved on to more productive areas.

This can be a great hunt. The hikers started to get pretty thick around about 2012, but they stick close to the trails. If you stay away from the trails it can get lonely fast. One thing i would caution against is thinking this hunt is one that you are going to see a lot of elk on. The potential for some quality is there, but you had better make your encounters count.

Get into the Cascade creek drainage. Especially on a dry year. I have hunted a few spots on the Southwest side of that mountain where the water was literally running underneath of your feet but you couldn't see it, you could hear it and see it through tangles of roots on big old growth trees but that was it, very cool area! Just get away from the roads, trails, and other people.
