Looking for a Catfish Guide
« on: June 17, 2021, 06:56:05 PM »
I have a buddy who is from Louisiana and I was wondering if anyone know of a good guide for a catfish trip.  Want to our wives to buy us a trip for the future for a Fathers Day gift.

I haven't done catfish specifically but I've used YJ guide service a couple of times and plan on going back out with him again. He has talked about his catfish trips and I've always been interested in it but my schedule is more open in winter.  This is actually a good reminder to talk to Craig about a trip again.

Whitestone lake west of spectacle lake is specifically managed for warm water species. 3 weeks ago I caught a 10 pound catfish out of there. If your southern friend knows the ins and outs of cat fishing and wants some whoppers go to Whitestone. Beaver lake next to Clear lake in skagit county is good catfish fishing too. No guide service specifically towards cats that I know of.

Here in Washington?

It’s actually east of spectacle lake. I don’t know how much of an effort the state makes to manage it today but they used to years ago. A couple of family members of mine caught several decent catfish out of there a few years back as well. The only reason I know there’s catfish in Beaver lake was after I was pulling out from fishing it myself, there was some good ol’ boys from Texas sitting at the launch as it was getting dark fishing for cats. They already had a few on their stringers.
