Was out of town, so today was my first day out since end of July. Found a nice king at first light, but took me til 8 or so to find a coho. King is 33” and just shy of 16#. Tons of large herring around, the birds and porpoise we’re having a field day.

It was a grind to get our fish yesterday. Hot and smoky. Lost a nice one at the boat in the am :bash: Did not get our kings until the midafternoon tide change. Larger spoons in the dirt were the ticket.

Beautiful fish!

Lots of company this morning :chuckle: This 9.7 pound king cut well. There is a silver in there for reference. Released a few pinks as well. The plug is the drug.

I had a lot of big unclipped fish this year, while fun to catch always a bit of a heart breaker.
Hoping the bigger coho round the corner soon.  I know in the past i've caught nicer fish well into the end of Sept..wondering how the hotter weather may change the timing this year

A little rain tonight, looks like more tomorrow, should be enough to get a few ocean coho here next week. Now that kings are done, come on coho!

It seems to me that the coho come in earlier in pink years. Some just can't help wandering in with the schools of pinks. I have caught ocean coho this last weekend of Aug and Labor Day weekend in the past. I won't be out there this weekend though. Good luck if you're out there!
