“TRACT D” New Yakima Indian Reservation boundary
«

June of 2021 the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit reaffirmed that Glenwood Valley in Klickitat County is part of the 1.3-million-acre Yakama reservation.
The ruling allows the Yakamas much criminal and civil jurisdiction over Native Americans in the area.
The problem is a lot of land north of the refuge and throughout tract d is checker boarded square miles of mostly private timber companies that is feel free to hunt and DNR. I believe the private timberlands and DNR will remain accessible for hunters. It seems the ruling only gave the Yakamas criminal and civil jurisdiction over natives in the area. At least that’s the way I understand it. Anyone else?

That is my understanding as well, it should not affect property ownership or use. The problem for the moment is that all these timberlands are closed for fire danger. Hard saying if that closure will lift by archery season.

I sure hope I’m wrong but I bet she keeps everything locked up till at least October. Really going to suck if that’s the case. But I am making plans to hunt the west side since they don’t seem to think there’s any fire danger over there.

Be lucky if only Oct I'd be more inclined to say until the snow flies, or the Ark starts to float

I forget when did Stevenson land company, broughton, Hancock, and DNR open last year east of the cascades? It was at least into October I believe. Anyone remember?

I don't think DNR land closed last year. The private timberland was closed from about mid August to just before the start of fall turkey season, I believe.
