Palisades youth antlerless hunt updated with pics!
« on: September 20, 2021, 06:40:42 AM »
My 9 year old daughter drew the palisades youth tag this year. I had planned on getting over there and knocking on doors to see if i could find a farmer that would let me set her up in a blind and let her shoot a doe, but my 7 month old daughter had open heart surgery in july and that has taken up most of my time this summer and i have not had a chance to knock on doors so i thought i would ask on here if there is anyone that has property in gmu 266 or 269 that would be willing to let her fill her doe tag? Thanks!

There is state and blm land in both those units that hold deer. Plenty of does!

I know the units pretty well. I just have a limited amount of time to get her a doe and she needs to be setup on her tripod so a blind would be the best option so thats why im asking.

can't remember their name but years ago my kids hunted on this place several times with the youth tag. Maybe 2 or 3 miles past Palisades is road. take a left (if your coming from the west) onto Moses Coulee Rd SW then a right onto Wagon Road. First house on the right. They used to put our a hay bale blind for the kids. Good luck. I'll be taking my 9 year old grand daughter out for her first deer this year also.

I sent a message to a friend that might let you on.  His boys will probably be hunting opening weekend but he may let you after that.  He has a soft spot for kids and lady hunters but a couple years back he let a lady on and it turned into a fiasco where the lady’s husband ended up shooting multiple deer which left a really sour taste in his mouth.  Anyway, if he’ll let you on, it’s a slam dunk.

Well after 4 days Riley connected this morning with a nice doe at 126 yards! She made a perfect shot and dropped her in her tracks! I want to say thanks to Kurt for contacting Aaron and letting her hunt his property. We saw lots of deer there but they went on the neighbors land. We decided to hunt by camp this morning on public land and right at light we got into deer and made it happen! I cant be more proud of her right now!
