These are all great blacktails.

Question:  With so much forage on the westside why are their antlers generally smaller than mule deer? Genetics? Is that food not that great? Thanks

Whitetail are the oldest, timeline speaking, by far.  Blacktail are next in line and most people that study such things say mule deer are a hybrid of ancient whitetail and blacktail.  A fair amount of time, most say 10,000 years or so, and you have a different species, muledeer.  The antler difference is a species thing not an environmental or food result.

I would guess that huge antlers on the westside would've snagged in brush and limbs more, slowing them down for predators.
