Seen 1 doe this morning in bridge gate. Tonight we went into Kapowsin and saw 1 doe and 1 cow elk. Still very slow in there. This weekend will probably be a pumpkin patch. Good luck to everyone going in.

Duck slayer did I talk to you at the gate today? I was in a white Tacoma!

Shoot man i don’t think so. I just talked to a few other guys but no Tacoma’s. One saw a huge cat yesterday in the far cut I like to hunt.  I saw a red Tacoma parked at the bridge gate though mine is a different red. Mine is red red lol. I have Washington mule deer plates too.

I’m scared to go this weekend. Today was crazy enough lol. Still saw some deer though!

JBar,
That was me if you were at kapowsin gate this morning about 1030, there’s at least three of us with red Tacoma’s.  It was good talking with you.
It’s been a grind for me this year up there, 19 deer this week hunting every day both bridge and kapowsin, only 2 spike bucks and a glimpse of a branched buck.  Most days were daylight to dark, and two days I saw zero deer.   I know it’s blacktail hunting, but I’ve been going up there almost 20 years, had some good years and it just seems to go down for deer numbers every year.
Thankful for the access but in my opinion the forestry practices benefit the elk and the deer suffer.  The thinning also seems to have increased, very little huntable timber that you actually see deer in.  Not to mention 1200 permits packs a lotta folks into an area that continues to shrink with some of the land sales and gates on roads that used to be loops.  Good luck everyone this weekend, hopefully things pick up for the late hunt.

I hunted the Kapowsin side. Made my way up at first light.  I didn't see a deer and left around 10.  No shooting either.  Deer must have started moving after I left :chuckle:

Hunted the bridge gate side, hiked into a gorgeous area. No deer 3 elk. I was convinced all the deer were killed by cougars then saw this nice 3 point in a back of a guys truck. He said he saw me parked at my gate so drove to the next road went up a ways and saw them. Hiked in a ways he said before he saw the buck. Sounded like a cool hunt, I was stoked for the guy because he hasn’t been seeing anything either. Another hunter I ran into saw another cougar as well. Lots of sightings. More cougar sightings than bucks from guys I’ve talked to

I did a six mile hike, enjoyed the gorgeous morning, saw 1 doe 4 elk and found a bonus elk shed.  It was an eerily quiet morning for the number of guys that I know were out and about.  A handful of buck rubs but overall not much deer sign.

It was so quiet I couldn’t believe it! Watching all the trucks and stuff from where I was creeping along. Not much shooting at all. I heard a rapid fire like 10 shots. Probably not at a deer.

Buddy and I went out. We saw 2 does and a small 2 point. He was gonna shoot the buck but it walked outta sight before he could get set up. Also saw a coyote run across the road while we were looking at the buck. To nice out there right now.

I did the big old loop tonight on the bridge gate side from 330 til last light.  Traveled probably 20 miles doing the loop and never saw a deer.  Plenty of elk out feeding in the last hour but didn't even road jump a deer.

That’s why I took the day off. Sad state of affairs in there
