Been out in matlock for 11 years and haven't seen any bulls worth calling big. Out towards the olympic national in the skok unit though I have seen some big bulls

The difference between a draw only/permit area and general tag area.

I would not make that argument. The elk I'm speaking of all reside within the skokomish unit. 

The big park bulls I've seen are just that. Elk that spend the vast majority of their lives within the national park boundary or travel in and out throughout the year.

Ilive in cle elum. two weeks ago we had 75 elk milling around at the east end of town. The deer and elk are looking for a snowless area to bed.

We use to see some huge bulls north of Shelton, up the Skoke valley, Spider Lake, Pine lake, Brown’s Creek area up through the 80s. That area was hit hard in the late 80s by poachers and the Skokes. There were also some huge bulls around Lake Cushman. They use to fire a cannon every morning to get the elk off the golf course greens.
My Dad worked for Simpson. We mad many trips up to Camp Govey and the upper Skoke river.

Even areas not "known" for big bulls can easily have a couple big rosies in it. The big old rosies seem to stay hidden better, which is how they get old, and with the dense cover in many areas it is likely that a really big one could come from anywhere, they are just more rare in some areas.

Those big bulls only show themselves when the time is right, for them. I've seen some absolute bruisers in the area. Just never with the big herds.

I wonder exactly where this bull came from then? I got another pic of it I'll post up. It's pretty impressive.

I believe I've identified the second owner and am working on getting in contact with him. So I can hopefully get the original story, if it's still available. The only reason I would argue the hamma hamma area is most of those big bulks up there crown instead of whale tails. But who knows. .

The guy I got it from supposedly got it from the original owner. He sent me a couple other pics but I don't know that I saved them. I'm still searching. Between taking hundreds of pics of my kids and work stuff and saving Zardoz's memes I have ten thousand pics to rifle through! Lol
