I use OnX and BaseMap - each has their strengths and weaknesses but together I find that I get the information I need

Go Hunt to draw the tag. OnX/Google Earth for e-scouting and navigation. Some states have good info on their sites as well.....

Gohunt, Top Rut and Huntinfool.

And if you have a premium OnX account you get free access to TopRut and HuntinFool.  You just use your OnX sign in for both of them. OnX premium members got a link in their email about 4 months ago.

One does not hunt in order to kill; on the contrary, one kills in order to have hunted. If one were to present the sportsman with the death of the animal as a gift he would refuse it. What he is after is having to win it, to conquer the surly brute through his own effort and skill with all the extras that this carries with it: the immersion in the countryside, the healthfulness of the exercise, the distraction from his job. ~ Jose Ortega y Gasset

For research on where to apply, GoHunt and Huntinphool have been the best for me in the past.

For maps, I've used OnX and Basemap.  I use only Basemap now as the subscription gives you all states for less money than OnX and the off-grid featuers on Basemap work well.  And I get the hunting overlay for it as you can turn on the layer that shows GMU and harvest stats, which is nice.

Some of the states have very good research sites themselves.  For example, the Utah DWR provides a very nice website for researching GMUs within Utah with harvest stats, etc. as part of the map as their "Hunt Planner".

So depends on what states you're looking at.

For maps I use ONx, Go Hunt, and Gaia GPS.  I like Onx maps the best overall but only pay for WA.  GoHunt for 3D maps and other states.  Gaia because it works with Apple Car play in my Truck and you have almost an unlimited list of map types.
